RIO Premier Midge Tip Fly Line – Floating Line with Clear Intermediate or Hover Tip

The RIO Premier Midge Tip Fly Line is the ideal choice for stillwater trout anglers fishing unweighted nymphs, buzzers, chironomids and emergers in the surface layers. Designed to fish flies naturally in the top foot of the water, it combines the control of a floating fly line with a short sinking tip to keep your presentation just below the surface film.

Choose a 3ft clear intermediate tip, sinking at approximately 1.5 inches per second, for subtle presentations beneath wind chop and surface glare. Alternatively, the grey hover tip sinks at around 1 inch per second, offering an extremely slow descent for fishing shallow water, calm bays and over weed beds.

The floating body remains easy to mend, control and lift from the water, while the short sink tip helps counteract wind and prevents flies from skating on the surface. This makes the RIO Midge Tip especially effective in shallow bays, along lake margins, over submerged weed and on breezy days when trout are feeding close to the surface.

Built on a supple coldwater core and finished with RIO’s ultra-slick, durable SlickCast coating, this line delivers smooth casting, easy shooting and dependable performance in cooler conditions. Front and rear welded loops allow quick attachment of leaders and backing, while RIO’s line-management features make it easier to fish accurately and efficiently.
